The firm DEDON is a manufacturer of extremely exclusive braided furniture. Apart from first-class quality, DEDON also places importance on high-class design and the exclusiveness of the plastic material used in their production. All these factors typifying the company and its products had to be expressed in the design of a new, complete product presentation system. The desired product system comprised a binder for the material collection (cover fabric for seat cushions etc.), a product for presentation, brochure storage and product information and a product dealing with documentation and communication of brand values, the “brand book”.

The material collection binder is a particularly important aspect of this complete product system as it represents the basic tool used by sales representatives, distributors, architects and interior designers.

With a view to product development, DEDON was looking for a manufacturer with the necessary innovation and industry know-how who could live up to their high expectations of quality and produce a complete, finished product.

Achilles was able to meet DEDON’s requirements – all from one source; conception, product development, technical functionality and ultimately the complete production in the highest quality. We developed a completely new mechanism, the so-called “tube mechanism” which Achilles has since had patented due to its high level of innovation.

Instead of the usual, technically complicated special solutions that are often difficult to handle such as material clamps or binders with lever-arch mechanisms or ring mechanisms, the Achilles tube mechanism ® is based upon a very simple principle: the material is held in place on Priplak rods by flexible hooks, allowing easy removal and replacement in the tube mechanism.

With this completely new way of presenting material collections, DEDON can really set itself apart from the competition. In addition, the choice of material for the plastic tube mechanism is a nod in the direction of the materials DEDON uses for their braided furniture. The high quality design and innovative approach match DEDON’s position in the market and for each of the other elements of the complete presentation product system, Achilles chose solutions with optimum functionality.

A slipcase-in-a-slipcase solution placed on the shelf as a flexible storage system was the right choice for brochures and (unpunched) product documentation and can be supplemented with the current DEDON documents as required.

For the “brand book”, Achilles used an elegant ring binder with an ergonomic rounded spine and printed dividers. All of this of course in keeping with DEDON’s corporate design (the binder in white and the dividers in the DEDON orange-yellow.)
